WeddingsScaplen's Court & Garden
Looking for a wedding venue that feels romantic, character‑filled, and a little bit magical? Welcome to Scaplen’s Court & Garden, one of Poole Museum’s best‑kept secrets.
Just a stone’s throw from Poole Quay, this tucked‑away 15th‑century building offers a romantic courtyard, a beautiful walled garden, rooms filled with centuries of history and bags of charm - the kind of place that feels special the moment you step inside.
Say 'I do' somewhere unforgettable
Think candlelight on medieval stone, characterful period details, and the elegant Upper Hall, atmospheric, romantic, and wonderfully unfussy.
Tucked away and brimming with history, Scaplen’s Court is the kind of place where love stories feel right at home. With its exposed stone walls, medieval doorways and secret‑garden charm, every corner has a story to tell, and now, it gets to be part of yours.
From intimate 'I dos' in characterful rooms to ceremonies in the beautiful walled garden, there’s a space here to suit your vibe.
However you imagine your day, this wonderfully unique setting does the hard work for you.

Drinks, your way
After the ceremony, it’s time to celebrate – and you’ve got choices. If you love greenery and peace, step straight into our private walled herb and physic garden, a calm and sun‑lit spot for toasts, photos, and catching up with guests.
Prefer a waterfront moment? Head to our museum terrace overlooking Poole Quay, where boats drift by and the harbour buzz adds a lively backdrop to your celebration. It’s relaxed, sociable, and unmistakably Poole.
Think flickering light against medieval stone. Think relaxed elegance, warm laughter, and a day that feels effortlessly you.
Weddings, bespoke for you
A range of beautiful ceremony spaces are available, each offering its own unique character and charm. Our largest room, the Upper Hall, provides an impressive setting for ceremonies of up to 80 guests.
For more intimate gatherings, you can choose from a selection of equally special spaces, and our tranquil Walled Garden, a picturesque outdoor setting. Each space offers a distinctive atmosphere, allowing you to select the perfect backdrop for your celebration.
Venue hire is available from 2:30pm onwards, with ceremonies taking place at 3pm, 4pm or later, dependant on Registry Service availability.
Please remember, you’ll need to check Registrar availability and book their services to conduct your ceremony separately.
A typical timeline for a 4pm ceremony might look like this:
3.30pm: Guests arrival
4pm: Ceremony begins
4.30 – 6pm: Drinks and canape reception

Thinking about adding a little music? Live acoustic sets and gentle background music are very welcome and can bring a truly special atmosphere to the space. To protect the charm of this historic setting, we keep things softly in tune with the building, so while unplugged performances work beautifully, disco setups and full bands aren’t quite the right fit.
Effortless, atmospheric, and just the right amount of celebration.

Venue hire fee
From £2,000 for half a day where you’ll enjoy exclusive use of your own entrance and all the beautiful spaces beyond the courtyard, including the house and garden - your own little world for the afternoon.
