Visitor facilities

Before you step into centuries of stories (and possibly sit down to enjoy a cuppa), here’s the lowdown on the handy bits that’ll make your visit extra lovely.

We’ve rounded up all the essentials - like where to change your little one, where to sip something warm and comforting, and who to ask about events, tours and trails.

Our facilities

Toilets and baby changing

All our toilets are gender neutral toilets. Each WC is self-contained with a toilet and a sink.

On the ground floor of the museum, there are three toilets. Two are accessible toilets and one has baby changing facilities.

On Level 3 of the museum, there are three toilets. One is an accessible toilet.

In Scaplen's Court there are four toilets. Two are accessible toilets and one has baby changing facilities.

Feeding

Whether you’re breastfeeding or bottle-feeding, feel free to do so anywhere in Poole Museum and Scaplen’s Court & Garden.

Lifts

Poole Museum has a brand-new lift with more turning space than ever before!

The lift can carry up to 100kg - perfect for the whole family to squeeze in, buggies and all!

Scaplen’s Court now has a shiny new platform lift to help you explore more of the building. It stops at two levels on the first floor - because, well, that’s old buildings for you!

The lift can carry up to 400kg – perfect for wheelchairs and buggies.

We’re keen to make history more accessible, one quirky floor at a time.

Café

We've got a cosy little café that’s big on flavour. Housed in our medieval merchant’s home (Scaplen's Court), it’s the perfect place to pause your time-travelling and treat yourself.

Whether you’re after a cup of expertly roasted coffee, a refreshing drink, or something sweet and freshly baked, we’ve got just the thing. Feeling fancy? Go for a classic afternoon tea. Just peckish? Our light lunches hit the spot.

Take a seat, soak up the atmosphere, and let the cake do the talking.
