Sound of the Sea

Where Sea Creatures Dance to Your Every Move!
Created by the brilliant minds at Marpi Studio, this exhibition is a feast for the senses. Picture this: futuristic sea creatures gliding through glowing waters, dancing and responding to your every move. It’s not just art - it’s alive!
Inspired by real marine life and the mysteries of the deep (plus a few wild ocean dreams), this exhibition flips maritime heritage on its head and gives it a bold, digital twist. Think sci-fi meets sea-life, with a whole lot of movement.
Using clever body-tracking sensors, your avatar appears on screen and becomes part of the show. Wave your arms, strike a pose, or simply float through – the creatures react in a hypnotic blend of light, sound, and motion. It’s curious, creative, and full of surprises!
Sound of the Sea is the result of a truly global collaboration - curated in Shanghai, created across San Francisco, Paris, and Oslo, and produced from New York and LA. Thanks to a fully remote setup, this immersive experience can travel anywhere… and its UK debut is right here in Poole!
You’ll find Sound of the Sea in the museum’s newly transformed Fine Gallery - a sleek, futuristic space that used to be an office and is now a top-tier exhibition zone thanks to support from The Fine Family Foundation. It’s got all the tech bells and whistles to host everything from ancient treasures to cutting-edge digital wizardry.
And the best part? It’s for everyone. Whether you’re a curious kid, a tech-loving teen, a sensory seeker, or just someone who loves a good sea story, this exhibition is designed to be inclusive, engaging, and full of wonder. You can dive in and interact, or sit back and let your imagination swim wild.
So grab your curiosity, bring your best moves, and get ready to meet the sea like you’ve never seen it before!
