Discover the spark behind the skyline

Saturday 14 February - August 2026

For more than 45 years, between 1947 and 1993, Poole Power Station rose above the harbour as a symbol of modern Britain.

One of the largest power stations in southern England, Poole Power Station was part of a drive to modernise Britain's energy supply after the Second World War.

Power of Poole brings together newly acquired objects and rarely seen items from our stores to tell the story of Poole Power Station.

Welcome to the power of Poole

But this exhibition is not complete without you.

Share your objects, photographs and memories, and help us build a richer and more personal record of the power station and the people whose lives it touched.

By photographing or digitising items, recording the stories behind them, and collecting memories - whether working life and social clubs or family memories and everyday experiences - we can build a shared community archive that enriches the formal record.

If you have something to share, even if it feels small or incomplete, it could make a difference.

Please tell us about your relationship to Poole Power Station and what you would like to share in the form below, and someone from the museum team will be intouch.
