Wedding planning can seem like a huge and sometimes daunting task to some. Here at Scaplen’s Court we endeavour to help make the experience as relaxing and fun as possible!
That is why in this series of blog posts we have collated three of the most common wedding planning queries and dilemmas we receive. Here we share with you some helpful tips with the aim of making your wedding planning journey a little less daunting!
In Part 1 we talked about the timeline of your day and how your day might flow. Part 2 focuses on arranging your suppliers.
After booking your venue, choosing your wedding suppliers becomes the next big part of your planning. At Scaplen’s Court you have the flexibility to choose your own suppliers, including a choice of caterers, so you really can create the type of occasion you want completely tailored and personal to you. Our couples love this freedom however we do find that some initially feel overwhelmed at the prospect of where to start.
With this in mind, we have put together some essential advice. Let us dive into the wonderful world of wedding planning!
THE EARLY BIRD CATCHES THE WORM!
How early do you need to book? You might be surprised to find that some wedding suppliers get booked up months, if not over a year or two in advance. That doesn’t mean to say you need to make any hasty decisions, and we would in fact recommend you don’t rush into anything. However, you might like to get organised sooner rather than later to avoid any disappointment, especially if you have an idea in mind of suppliers you might like to be part of your day. You of course want every supplier to be the perfect fit for your celebration and thus it is best to start researching your options as soon as possible in order to secure the suppliers that are right for you and your wedding.
HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR SUPPLIERS
Research is key when it comes to choosing your wedding suppliers. As mentioned previously, the beauty at Scaplen’s Court is you have the flexibility to choose your own suppliers, including a choice of caterers, so you really can create anything from a vintage-style celebration with cute afternoon tea, to a rustic-style festivity with sociable barbecue, even an elegant affair with exquisite dinner. There are so many different options available that we appreciate it can be difficult to narrow down to just a few! We recommend to tailor your search by considering the style of wedding you want, the number of guests you are inviting and of course, your budget. This will help ensure you focus on suppliers that suit your style of celebration.

MAKING YOUR ENQUIRIES AND GETTING INTO THE NITTY GRITTY
Suppliers love getting to know about you and your vision for your wedding day! When sending an enquiry ensure you include the essential information, such as date, venue and the service / product / package you require. Do also share a brief overview of your day, the style, perhaps colours and themes too, so they can get a feel for the type of celebration you are looking to create.
It is also extremely important you enquire about the finer detail in order to get a full picture of each supplier and what they provide, including information on booking procedures, terms and conditions, deposit and payment requirements. Please do also remember it is a requirement to provide us with confirmation of each supplier’s Public Liability Insurance and Risk Assessment, therefore we suggest you check early on that each supplier can supply this information.
For selecting specific suppliers, such as caterers, we offer support in providing our couples with a pre-prepared list of considerations and questions to ask.
Please remember if there is a caterer you are considering that has not catered at Scaplen’s Court we do strongly recommend a site visit before you confirm a booking with them. It is hugely important for them to understand the logistics and practicalities of operating in our unique venue. PINNING THINGS DOWN!
You have completed your research, obtained all the detail and even had a few consultations (the cake tasting is a particularly good perk of wedding planning!). It is now time to make your final decisions and pin things down! All that is left is to confirm and book with your chosen suppliers, and then of course update us with your exciting plans!
