Tudor Trading

This workshop is particularly suitable for pupils learning about the Tudor period. The workshop takes place at Scaplen’s Court, making use of the period building and Tudor kitchen.

 

Learning Outcomes

  1. To learn about the Tudor period   

  2. To learn about the differences between rich and poor people during the Tudor period   

  3. To learn about Tudor exploration   

 

Outline

Arrival and Introduction.

Storytelling: The Steward’s Tale (daring sea adventures, battles with pirates  and exotic trade).

In the Solar: comparison of life between rich and poor.

Tudor dancing.

Tudor cooking.

Meet the king.

Plenary session and food tasting.

Staff ratios

There will be 5 sets of tasks involved in the Tudor cooking activity, so you will need to bring five adult helpers. Four adults will be needed to supervise the group activities and the class teacher should float between groups.

 

Clothing

The workshop involves drama role-play and cooking and the children may get messy. Children should come dressed in clothes they are able to get messy in.

 

Photography

We are very happy for our staff to be photographed working with your pupils. Where consent is available we would be grateful for copies of digital photos we can use for promotion and publicity.

 

Health and safety

A risk assessment has been prepared to assist you in your risk assessment.

 

Access

If your group has specific issues, such as special educational needs, learning or physical disabilities please raise these when booking so that we can tailor the session accordingly.

 

Payment

You will be invoiced for the workshop after our visit. Please advise us of any relevant order numbers if appropriate.
