This workshop is suitable for pupils learning about Anglo-Saxons. The workshop takes place at Scaplen’s Court.


Learning Outcomes

  1. To learn about Anglo-Saxon life         

  2. To understand the differences between Pagan and Christian Anglo-Saxons




       Who were the Saxons? Investigating Anglo-Saxons in Dorset.


Pupils will learn about and take part in activities looking at: warfare and weaponry, settlement, clothing and costume, religion and beliefs, dancing and feasting.



Saxon staff

Staff ratios

Please ensure you have at least 3 adult helpers as well as the class teacher to supervise the activities.



Clothing should be comfortable, practical and warm. Most of the workshop takes place outside, stout footwear, waterproofs, hats, gloves and scarves are a good idea. Clothes will get dirty.



We are very happy for our staff to be photographed working with your pupils. Where consent is available we would be grateful for copies of digital photos we can use for promotion and publicity.

A risk assessment has been prepared to assist you in your risk assessment. Please email us for a copy.



If your group has specific issues, such as special educational needs, learning or physical disabilities please raise these when booking so that we can tailor the session accordingly.



You will be invoiced for the workshop after our visit. Please advise us of any relevant order numbers if appropriate.
