Playgrounds of the Past

This workshop is for pupils learning about toys and games from the past.

This workshop takes place in your classroom.

Learning Outcomes

Pupils will: 

  1. Find out about playground games of the past
  2. Practice sharing and taking turns
  3. Learn and recite simple rhymes

Outline

Introduction

Define the history mystery and introduce the evidence

Activities

Artefact handling 

Hand-clapping rhymes

Playing marbles and making a chatterbox (groups swap half way through)

Staff ratios

Activities 3 and 4 will occur simultaneously and so the class teacher’s help will be needed to supervise the group playing marbles. The class teacher must be present throughout the session.


Photography

We are very happy for our staff to be photographed working with your pupils. Where consent is available we would be grateful for copies of digital photos we can use for promotion and publicity.


Health and safety

A risk assessment has been prepared to assist you in your risk assessment. This will be provided when you book.


Access

If your group has specific issues, such as special educational needs, learning or physical disabilities please raise these when booking so that we can tailor the session accordingly.


Payment

You will be invoiced for the workshop after our visit. Please advise us of any relevant order numbers if appropriate.
