This 2 hour workshop is suitable for pupils learning about Queen Victoria, and her diamond jubilee as a historical event. The workshop takes place at Scaplen’s Court, making use of the Victorian Kitchen.

Outline
Arrival and introduction
Group activities:
(please divide your class into 5 groups before your visit. All groups will get a turn at all activities)
Preparing celebration food
Shoe cleaning
Waitress/waiter training

Staff ratios
Please divide your class into five groups before your visit. You should bring six adult helpers. Five adults will be needed to supervise the group activities and the class teacher should float between groups.
Clothing
The workshop involves drama and role-play. We encourage pupils and adults to dress in Victorian style outfits. It can get quite cold at Scaplen’s Court, so warm costumes should be worn in cool weather.
Photography
We are very happy for our staff to be photographed working with your pupils. Where consent is available we would be grateful for copies of digital photos we can use for promotion and publicity.

A risk assessment has been prepared to assist you in your risk assessment.
