Poole Museum's Learning Team are back following the Christmas break and have launched into a very busy schedule already.
On Monday I met with staff from Bearwood School and representatives of their Parents and Friends organisation to discuss celebrations for the 800th anniversary of the signing of Magna Carta. It was a very exciting meeting. We were planning a week in school to learn all about Magna Carta and the medieval period and a celebratory tournament on June 13th. Time will no doubt fly between now and June so preparations are underway in earnest.
Tomorrow I'm going to have a meeting about the possible rebuilding of the Roman House or other prehistoric buildings. There is some potentially very positive news about all that, but I shall keep that under my hat for the moment until plans are confirmed. However, we are also holding a public meeting to discuss plans on 24th January at the Museum. If you would like to get involved or have any ideas please get in touch with Louise Diffey and pop along.
Museum Music and Mime resumes this Friday. Don't forget that we reward loyalty! For every six sessions attended we treat you to a drink of your choice in our cafe, Cafe Explore.
Next week looks even busier. We're out at schools, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. In fact on Wednesday we'll be working with four schools simultaneously both at the Museum and at school sites. On Thursday we're taking the Museum into a care home and delivering workshops there.
We are also very busy at the moment compiling our programme for the Summer and putting together a NEW Anglo-Saxons workshop.
We still have some spaces for school workshops this term, but they are limited, so please get in touch asap if you would like to make a booking. Otherwise, if you would like to find out more about any of the projects we do, would like to develop something new with us, or borrow resources please get in touch. We can't wait to hear from you.
