It's the first full week of the school year and already we're super busy. Last week we were working with teachers preparing for the year ahead, as we delivered INSET sessions. This week we've seen hordes of small pirates invade the museum as they kick off their topic work in a memorable fashion. We've been sending out loan boxes and taking lots of bookings (September's already full, but the rest of the term is filling up fast). Just a quick reminder that it's best to book at least half a term in advance to secure the dates you want. Next week we'll be making lots of outdoor art (and it's a great time of year to do it), and practising our new Romans outreach workshop.

Also just to let you know we've just sent out our latest newsletter, so that's on it's way to you now, we've also included lots of flyers and information about our new activities. As always, drop us a line if you want to know more or are looking for some specific advice.
Takeover Day runs on 20th November this year. We've just sent out nomination forms to all secondary heads of year. It's always lovely to read all the applications from the young people and great to work with them as they takeover the museum. More about this in the coming weeks.
Skype a classroom
I ran my first Skype a classroom test this week and I'm looking forward to how I can work with schools to integrate this technology into what we do with you. By the way, I get regular suggestions for Skype a classroom sessions - check this one out about the holocaust.
So much to say and so little time. I haven't talked about the Big Draw, the Young Archaeologists Club, CPD at the Tank Museum or our new exhibitions programme. Next time. . .
