When you arrive at the museum
There will be a separate entrance and exit. If a number of visitors arrive at the same time we will ask you please to queue briefly, using the socially distanced floor markings in front of the museum.
Please arrive no later than the 30 minutes booked entry time. If you arrive late, we will not be able to guarantee you entry. Entry will be at the discretion of the staff.
Entering the Building
Please show your booking confirmation, either a printed version or on your phone, to the member of staff at the entrance. If you booked by phone please give the name of the person booking. Without a valid booking confirmation, we won’t be able to let you in.
Hand sanitiser will also be available at the door if you don’t have any with you.
Once your ticket has been checked, your visit can begin, and a staff member will update you on our keep-left system and social distancing measures.
Following latest Government guidance, all visitors are required to wear face coverings whilst in the museum shop. To enter and leave the museum you will need to pass through this area so please plan accordingly. Children under 11 and people with certain health conditions or disabilities are exempt. Wearing a face covering in any enclosed public space is encouraged and will be mandatory in museums from 8th August.
Our Staff are here to help
Don’t hesitate to talk to a member of staff if you have any questions or feedback. They might be wearing PPE – each member of staff has the option to wear this if they wish to. You will notice that we have installed a protective screen at the reception desk.
Please help everyone feel comfortable by keeping socially distanced from others.
Keep an eye out for signs and floor markings reminding everyone to give each other the space they need. We also ask families to keep children with you throughout your visit.
Keep left system
There will be a keep left system around the building. Please follow any signs or guidance from the staff.
We are asking all those who can to use the stairs. Only one person (plus a helper or carer) in the lift at one time, please.
So that we can maintain cleanliness and social distancing there will be one accessible toilet with baby-change facilities open on Floor 3. Please only enter the toilets when the area is clear. There will be space to queue if needed.
Interpretation and Activities
To reduce risks from touching, video and games activities have been temporarily removed from the galleries or switched off. There will be some new ‘I spy’ activities and take-away sheets for visitors to look out for as well as signs that link you to our many online activities.
The shop is open, as is a reduced Tourist Information service. The shop will take card payments only and we encourage you to use contactless payment if possible.
The cafe will be offering a reduced menu of light refreshments, snacks and sweet treats. The cafe opening times will be 10.30am -12.45pm and 2.00pm - 4.30pm daily.
For those visitors that would like to donate to the Poole Museum Foundation there are contactless donation points and cash donation boxes around the museum.
Exiting the Museum
To help with visitor flow and social distancing we are asking all visitors to exit via our side door onto Paradise Street. Please wear a face covering whilst passing through the shop area.
